Do I have it all figured out?

A while back, I was explaining something to someone – and they said “Sophie, you really look like you have your life figured out.” I immediately smiled and responded, “Well, I don’t, I just know and have a really tight relationship with the one who has everything figured out” – and that is God! This is something that I always tell people, and it is absolutely true. Everything in and about my life, is because of God.

I have come a mighty long way in allowing God to guide me in all areas of my life. I remember a time when I thought that I should only consult God in specific areas of my life and then I left other areas for me to control, for me to own. But with time I have started learning how to put Christ at the center of my whole life – not just bits and pieces, but my entire life!

One thing that this has given me is confidence! I am certain about things and I have a hope for the future – and this is because I know the person who holds my future, and I rest on His promises for my life. There is something really beautiful about realizing your worth in God’s eyes, knowing how much He loves and cares for you, and the things that He wants for you – He wants nothing but the best for you! His promises are “yes and amen” (2nd Corinthians 1:20).

I think the only person who had, has, and will always have everything figured out is God – because He knows the end from the beginning (can you imagine…) – and so imagine what an honor it is to be able to have a relationship with He who holds your life in His hands! One thing about me is I go for what I want in life, not with arrogance – but with confidence in God. When I feel I can do something and that it is meant for me – I pray about it and start working on it. Has it always worked out? No! But that has never stopped me – I feel bad, I acknowledge that I am disappointed, and then I talk to God and He picks me up. Before I start working on my plans, I lay them before Him – that is where the secret is!

You can never have everything figured about, but having a solid relationship with God gives you confidence, gives you favor, and makes your life worth it. In Him I have purpose and direction. When it comes to my professional life – it is all God, and my prayer is to always give glory and honor in my work. I remember once someone asked me a question during a meeting – you know the side talks that people have, and he asked how I know what I know, and I told him I would be lying if I said it is all me, truth is it is God.

I am a firm believer that when you honor God privately and publicly, He too honors you privately and publicly – what an honor this is!

Take stock of your life and submit to God all areas of your life and see Him do amazing things for you, and always remember it is for the honor and glory of His name! Amen.

Can I be independent in marriage?

A friend of mine asked me that question the other day. And this is what I told her: Being independent means “not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence”. When I look at the vows we make, the beginning of marriage takes away our independence. However, what varies throughout marriage is

Trusting God is a Narrow Path…

“But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it”. Matthew 7:14 When I think about a narrow road, I imagine that the person using that road must be sure that that is the road they want to take. Because it is
