As I turned a year older….

My birthday was on 4th January and in the morning before my husband left for work, he said a prayer over me and it is like he knew what I wanted to tell God! And that was the beginning of a good day and week, where God used different people to prove that He hears my prayers even the ones I haven’t prayed out loud! God has always used my family to speak to me, and it was not different this time. I have been trying to make some decisions, and through text messages and phone calls God confirmed so much to me!

I received gifts from family and friends throughout the week – and I felt and still feel so honored! There is a really good feeling one gets when they are celebrated – and I felt this throughout the day, and the week! The text messages and the phone calls each warmed my heart.

Here a few things I appreciated as I celebrated my birthday:

When my nephew first started praying one of the things I picked from how he prayed, was how he prayed and thanked God for everything! And that made me realize how we take things for granted – the innocence of children is admirable. Throughout my birthday I realized the fact that I had prayed about most of the things I received and even the answers I got through the messages and calls – was because I have learnt to pray about everything! Nothing is too big or too small for our God – so pray about everything.

Love those around you genuinely and invest in those relationships. My small sister sent me such a deep message and as I read it I realized that she was affirming me in all the relationships I have – as a daughter, as a sister, as an aunt, a friend, and as a wife. I value relationships and so many times I would go out of my way to make sure that the people around me are happy. So many times God uses those around you to bless you! And so I realized that will continue loving those around me genuinely!

God cares. I always say this, and this time on my birthday I didn’t just say it – I felt it! God cares about every detail of our life, and He does things for and to us that prove this reality. Every message, every gift was a reminder that God cares – some of the gifts I received were stuff that I was actually planning to get myself (and the people who gifted me had no idea), the cake my family got me was something I told my small sister about last year and she made sure that happened!

I had one of the best birthdays that I have ever had, and I love how God showed off through people! I felt loved, I felt appreciated and I enjoyed being celebrated!

I am ready for this New Year and for God to keep being God!

Thanks for reading.

I love to write, talk and share my experiences, I strongly believe in the power of sharing and how one’s experience is enough to shape another person’s life.

  1. That part of how your nephew prays, reminds me of how my daughter prays, she literally prays for everything mentioning them one by one. These little ones can teach us so much.

    1. Indeed they teach us quite a lot! They teach us how simple it is to talk to God! Thanks for reading Jay!

Can I be independent in marriage?

A friend of mine asked me that question the other day. And this is what I told her: Being independent means “not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence”. When I look at the vows we make, the beginning of marriage takes away our independence. However, what varies throughout marriage is

Trusting God is a Narrow Path…

“But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it”. Matthew 7:14 When I think about a narrow road, I imagine that the person using that road must be sure that that is the road they want to take. Because it is
